Kids Skills Programme

We are delighted to host a Free Kids Skills Event in association with Tipperary Sports Partnership in Powerstown Park, Clonmel on Friday 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th May from 6:30-7:30pm.

Here’s some FAQ’s to inform you about the event.

🚴🏻 How much is it?
It’s free of charge.
(As a trade off, we will ask for assistance in maintaining the courses during the hour. Feel free to pick up beanbags, limbo poles, tent pegs, fix ramps, hand out water etc.)

🚴🏻 How do I register?
Register on the evening. A simple, traditional sign in sheet.

🚴🏻 Do I need my own bike?
Yes, a mountain bike is the best option for the terrain.

🚴🏻 Do I need a helmet?
Yes – it must be the correct size.

🚴🏻 Can I use a bike with stabilisers?
Unfortunately, the ground is too uneven to allow for stabilisers. It’s suitable for balance bikes.

🚴🏻 What if I don’t like ramps, do I have to do that part?
Absolutely not, the course is set in a way that allows you to go beside the ramps if you prefer.

🚴🏻 I can already cycle and I don’t need to learn how to do any tricks, will I be bored?
Not at all, if you’re comfortable to do some demonstrations for the less experienced that would be so helpful.

🚴🏻 Is it just cycling?
The main aim is to develop skills on a bike, but there are opportunities to get off the bike to complete other challenges if you’d prefer to change it up.

🚴🏻 What ages will be there?
In the younger group it will include up to about age 8, and the more advanced group will depend on how you feel about distance, most years age 8-16 – the course is a bit longer. It’s encouraged to try the more technical course but absolutely zero pressure on anyone to do something they’re not comfortable trying.
